Radon Grants

EAIS is dedicated to leveraging public-private partnerships to support Iowa schools.

EAIS has received FY2019 grant funding from the Iowa Cancer Consortium and Iowa Department of Public Health! This means the following dollars are available for the first approximately 21 school districts to sign up: $1000 for new participants and $500/$250 for repeat schools toward training and test kits + access to a $10,500 mitigation assistance grant pool to be shared by all participating school districts as needed. All grant recipients are required to send a school radon team to one Kickoff Workshop and to test at least one building.

These generous grant dollars make the already-affordable SRTSS even more affordable and accessible to schools, allowing them to keep their students, educators and communities as safe as possible from radon-induced lung cancer.

Also, a grant was recently submitted to the Wellmark Foundation for preK-12 students to expand the prevention of radon-induced lung cancer for a safe, healthy and active life. EAIS hopes to hear about this funding opportunity by August 2018.

2018-19 SRTSS Kickoff Workshops will begin across the state in September 2018. For more information click herePlease contact Julie Weisshaar for more information.
