School Radon Training & Support System Registration
Iowa public schools have until July 1, 2027, to test all enrollment centers for radon. That means this winter is your school district’s last shot to meet Iowa School Radon Safety requirements. HAVE YOU TESTED?
The School Radon Training and Support System© (SRTSS), created and facilitated by Energy Association of Iowa Schools, is all Iowa public schools need to meet the requirements of 2022 Iowa HF 2412, now written into Iowa Code Chapter 280.32. SRTSS© is the only Iowa-based HHS-approved Radon Measurement Training Course for Iowa school district employees. We have been helping schools prevent radon-induced lung cancer since 2015.
The EAIS School Radon Training & Support System© process of doing the testing yourselves begins by registering for a School Radon Kickoff below. Registering means that your school district will send a team of two people to one Kickoff date for training and planning. Your team will then return home and test your school buildings (with ongoing EAIS support) for radon sometime during the months of November, December, January or February.
The registration deadline to participate in the 2026-27 SRTSS© is September 25, 2026. Billing will occur after your School Radon Team confirms during the Kickoff which building(s) must be tested this year. Cost is a required membership based upon enrollment (shown in dropdown below), plus a per building cost based on type (cost range for 1st-Time schools is $2,500 – $3,500 per building). Per Iowa Code Chapter 280.32, school districts may pay for costs associated with testing and mitigation with General Fund and/or SAVE (one-cent sales tax) dollars).
Registration using the form below is required for both first-time and returning school districts in order to have a guaranteed spot in the EAIS 2026-27 radon testing and support schedule.
Superintendents are always welcome to attend the Kickoffs. However we do have a separate Zoom scheduled for school superintendents/district spokespeople, which is all that is necessary for their role in the process. Zoom details will be shared directly with the superintendent at a later time.

By registering for or participating in the School Radon Training & Support System, participants acknowledge and agree that EAIS, its staff, partners, and representatives may photograph, record, or otherwise capture their image, voice, and likeness during program activities.
Participants grant EAIS the irrevocable, royalty-free right and permission to use, reproduce, edit, publish, distribute, and display such photographs and video recordings in any medium. Images and recordings may be used with or without identifying information such as name, title, or organization, unless otherwise requested in writing by the participant.
